ASP.NET Handling/combining windows authentication and azure active directory in a cs-project

I got an ASP.NET website using windows authentication that is deployed and integrated with AD.
For azure deployment I would like to authenticate using azure active directory.
These two methods of authentication are not compatible in the same cs-project.
Is there a method/workaround for having both of these authentication methods available without having to branch the source code?
asp.net azure azure-active-directory branch windows-authentication

is it mvc or web forms ? do you use asp.net core ? in any case you will be moving to an openID connect model with azure acive directory being your ID store
