I am running a Play 2.6 application and I am experimenting with building actions. When I try to compile this code from the online documentation it fails:

import play.api.mvc._

case class Logging[A](action: Action[A]) extends Action[A] {

def apply(request: Request[A]): Future[Result] = {
Logger.info("Calling action")
action(request)
}

override def parser = action.parser
override def executionContext = action.executionContext
}

There are no fields called parser and executionContent on the action value. Instead the IDE is telling me that I need to implement the following method:

override def call(ctx: Http.Context) : CompletionStage[mvc.Result] = ???

How do I implement this? The code works with Play 2.5 but not Play 2.6. Is this because it changed to AkkaHttp underneath from Netty?

  • Do you have a link to that documentation? Is it really for 2.6? Play changes how you have to code against it between versions.

  • This compiles fine for me on Play 2.6.20
