Intent URI not working in Reddit app webview?

0

I'm trying to set up some links so that they'll be opened in the default browser if the page is being viewed from a webview (Reddit app in this case). My link looks like this:

<a href="intent://example.com#Intent;scheme=http;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;end;">test</a>

Here's a jsbin if you'd like to test it yourselves:
https://output.jsbin.com/qakopuqate

For some reason this does nothing when clicked from inside the reddit app. Is my link incorrect? Is there something specific to the Reddit app which prevents intent URIs? Or have they been somehow depreciated?
