Intellij - how to show parameter name hints from another class/file?

0

EDIT: I changed the format of my question and added my sample classes.

I have two very simple classes in two different files, Main.java and Person.java.

Main.java:

public class Main {
public static void main(String args) {
Person person1 = new Person("Henry", 22);
}
}

Person.java:

public class Person {
String name;
int age;
Person person2 = new Person("Monica", 24);

public Person(String name, int age) {
this.name = name;
this.age = age;
}

}

My problem is this: I am using IntelliJ, and in settings I have checked ”Show parameter name hints on completion”. This works when I try to make person2, but not when I make person1. I think this is because person2 is initiated in the same class as the constructor for Person. How can I get parameter name hints when initiating person1, in class Main.java?

  • Please check configuration for parameter name gints in "Settings | Editor | General | Appearance - Show parameter name hints - Configure...". Also please provide code example demonstrating the issue.
