Need to capture user session start time when user access asp.net intranet site
I have a asp.net Intranet site with C# code behind where users are authenticated using Windows authentication. The Windows Authentication works successfully, but I need to capture the user name and the user’s session start and end times (to be able to log these values in the SQL Server database for auditing purposes). What is the best way to go about doing this and where should I add the code? I’m not sure which code behind file or event I need to add the code to? I guess it would be something like Session_OnStart?

Session Start seems like reasonable way to track the session start :) You can get the user name from the Identity, and you know the current time. Session End though might be trickier: you need to store something in the session and set a session timeout
