Firebase Invites using Dynamic links - starting activity using the referral link fails to be started
I'm trying to dynamically generate dynamic links using Firebase api and then send the referral link in whatsapp. Once the link is clicked, app is installed and opened by other user, he should be redirected to a ReferralWelcome page and then taken to the actual Login page for signing up.
For the FirebaseDynamicLinks.getInstance().createDynamicLink().setLink I'm setting the uri as "https://xyz.co/?invitedby=" + uid; //where uid - userid of the logged in firebase user. My setDomainUriPrefix is "https://xyz.page.link"
Within the AndroidManifest file I have the activity (which the user will be directed to after opening the referred app - ReferralWelcome) declared with -
<activity android:name=".ReferralWelcomeActivity"
android:screenOrientation="portrait"
android:label="@string/app_name"
android:noHistory="true">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE" />
<data android:host="xyz.co" android:scheme="https"/>
</intent-filter>
</activity>
In spite of this, when the Firebase url is clicked and opened, the app Login page opens by default (being the launcher page), then the FirebaseDynamicLinks.getInstance().getDynamicLink(getIntent()) is fired and within that the startActivity for ReferralWelcome activity is fired with
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
intent.setPackage(getPackageName());
intent.setData(deepLink);
//deepLink = getLink() from the PendingDynamicLinkData passed in to onSuccess
As soon as the startActivity starts the LoginActivity, the app crashes with ActivityNotFoundexception.
If LoginActivity is my app's start activity, MainActivity is the activity from where I'm generating the firebase dynamic url and sharing with the users. once clicked, they would be taken to download the app (if not installed) and then taken to loginactivity (by default) where a check will extract the invite information and open the ReferralWelcomeActivity page for user. Is there anything wrong as far as sequencing of events / code written is concerned? Please help.
