Google Analytics Event Tracking (with GTM) displays impossible target URLs as event clicks

0

We are tracking events through the google analytics event tracking implemented with google tag manager.

We set up to track all link clicks and it was working fine. No we implemented our system at a new company and we receive weird URLs as link clicks.

The company is using a separate part of our website: e.g. "www.company.leon.com" and there is no button or link in that website directing a user to our main website "www.leon.com". Anyway our analytics shows impossible "eventlabels" within the event tracking area in google analytics, like:

Source: "/company.leon.com" Target: "/leon.com"

But the only way people could navigate from the one website to the other is to insert the URL Link directly into the URL bar...

How can this happen?

  • What values do you send in event category, action and label? "Source: "/company.leon.com" Target: "/leon.com"" - it's not clear.
